360° Pan

The video below was shot just moments ago while standing on the roof of the South Pole Station. My friend Lance had to maintain one of the science projects up there, and I asked to follow and shoot some video. The shot starts looking "south" over the roof top of the B-1 wing and out to the storage berms and Satellite Communications equipment. We pan to the west and see the Ice Cube Lab, South Pole Telescopes, Dark Sector Lab, and MAPO (Martin A Pomerantz Observatory). To the north: nothing. Northest we can see the new igloo and the NOAA ARO facility. The eastern view is obscured by the station roofing, but the powerplant, logistics facility, Vehicle Maintenance Facility are all over there.

Note: As of today, one of the satellites we use to access the internet and phones, went out of service today. This will reduce our connection time to about 9 hours a day. Due to other considerations, next year the South Pole will only get 2 hours a day of internet connection. Looks like this was a great year to be here!
